Dr. Masler's interest in the hatching physiology in H. glycines

Successful embryonic development and juvenile growth within the egg lead to a pre-infective juvenile capable of hatching and infecting the host plant. Hatching is affected by external environmental factors and internal molecular controls. We are examining the response of eggs to changes in environmental conditions, and looking for proteins and genes within the eggs which respond to these changes. Identification of these molecules will provide new options for the production of environmentally safe nematode control agents.
