My research activities cover a wide range of fields including meteorology, crop and soil sciences. Through my research experiences, I have developed an elevated level of expertise in application of various crop models such as the sited based crop models and the regional crop model. I intend to further improve my skill in modelling crop-yields and soil processes, and develop a deep understanding of how the soil, crop management strategies and input-use efficiency affect crop yield and build reasonable module for crop growth and development. For example, quantifying the impact of extreme high/low temperature stress on crop, parameterizing the flooding effect on crop, incorporating a coupled photosynthesis, stomatal conductance and transpiration model into rice model and assimilating satellited data into crop model to improve its’ skill. Many of my researches include foresting probability distribution of seasonal crop yield by linking crop model with multi ensembles of seasonal weather forecast, assessing climate change and variability, and agricultural management practices on crop yield, and further exploring how to adapt and mitigate the negative impact of weather and climate.
