Deborah A. Samac, Research Plant Pathologist, was elected as a 2012 Fellow of the American Phytopathological Society for her outstanding research accomplishments and service to the Society.

Carroll P. Vance, Research Leader and Plant Physiologist, was selected as a Fellow of the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB), Class of 2009, for his distinguished and long-term contributions to plant biology and service to the ASPB.

Carroll P. Vance, Research Leader and Plant Physiologist, received the Crop Science Society of America, Monsanto Crop Science Distinguished Career Award for 2007 in recognition of his outstanding record of service during his career.

Gordon C. Marten, retired, received an Honorary Doctorate of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota for his service as a distinguished USDA-ARS forage scientist and visionary researcher.

Howard W. Rines, Research Geneticist, PSRU, St. Paul, received the USDA-ARS Midwest Area Equal Opportunity Award for his exemplary EEO efforts on behalf of disabled employees.

Michael P. Russelle, Soil Scientist, PSRU St. Paul, was selected as the USDA-ARS Midwest Area Senior Research Scientist for his sustained research accomplishments addressing agriculture's impact on nitrogen cycling and his mentoring of students and peers.
