     Jessica Carty is a biological science technician for the USDA-ARS Livestock Behavior Research Unit in West Lafayette, IN. She obtained her bachelor's degree from Purdue University in Animal Sciences with a concentration in Production. She continued her studies at Purdue for her MSc degree in Animal Welfare with a graduate certificate in Animal Science Education and Communication. Her research projects focused on investigating early life stress in dairy calves as well as dairy-beef crossbred calf management. Jessica currently works under Dr. Pempek and assists in the planning and implementation of her dairy calf welfare research projects. Additionally, she regularly assists other technicians and scientists with swine and poultry projects.
