Biography and Research

Dr. Lei Jong has been a Research Physical Scientist at NCAUR, USDA-ARS, Peoria, IL since 2002. He received his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Jong is a member of a team of scientists conducting research on polymer science and technology. Dr. Jong develops new knowledge and applications in the areas of polymer networks, polymer blends, polymer thin films, polymer coatings, polymerization, cellulose/protein/starch materials, and bio-based polymer composites. Dr. Jong’s current research areas include particle dispersions of agricultural materials, dynamic/static mechanical properties of polymer composites, rheological properties of particle and polymer dispersions, polymer networks, rubber elasticity, bio-based elastomer composites, polymer miscibility, and interface interactions.
