Biography and Research

Dr. George Fanta has been a Research Chemist at NCAUR, USDA-ARS, Peoria, IL since 1964. Dr. Fanta received his B.S. in Chemistry from Purdue University and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois. Dr. Fanta is a member of a team of scientist that conducts research on new value added products derived from corn starch. Dr. Fanta uses organic chemistry and the chemistry of polymers, plastics, and carbohydrates (mainly starch derived from corn) in his research.
