Jim Swezey joined the ARS Culture Collection in 1979, conducting research on bacterial diversity with Dr. L. Nakamura. He has served as the curator of the ARS Patent Culture Collection since 1991 and as the Collections Manager for the ARS Culture Collection since 2009. Jim received his B.S. degree in Biology from Moorhead St. Univ. and his M.S. degree from the Bacteriology Department at North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D. His Masters thesis studied the affect of oxytetracycline, when used as a feed additive, and antibiotic resistance in the intestinal flora of turkeys. He is the primary contact for culture requests and questions regarding the ARS NRRL Culture Collection.
