Executive Summary


The Review Panel met on March 1, 2016 to conduct a retrospective review and assessment of the USDA ARS National Program 101 Food Animal Production program for research conducted in the period from FY 2010 to FY 2014.  The review panel consisted of nine scientists external to ARS with expertise in areas of animal physiology, nutrition, meat science, genetics, immunology, and animal production.  The review was conducted as an interactive webinar presentation by the National Program Leader and Lead Scientists.  The panel was asked to assess the scientific value of the accomplishments, identify unmet potential, and assess the value of a USDA national research program in animal production.
