Federal Agency Aquaculture Profile Series: Regulatory Agencies
This site lists an informational series of Fact Sheets on the Federal agencies with Congressional mandates and responsibilities for the regulation of aquaculture in the United States. Individual Fact Sheets highlighting Federal agencies responsible for implementing aquaculture regulations in the US include:
- specific legislative authorities or Federal regulations in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and a corresponding web link;
- the subject area of the specific legislation or CFR reference;
- a brief narrative description of the scope and key points in the regulation that is specific to aquaculture including any pertinent definition and authority for penalties with web links for details;
- if a federal permit is issued as part of any regulation, information is provided on the official name of the permit, the estimated cost of the permit fee, the period of validation, and estimated time to complete any paperwork requirements;
- any state or regional agency that as delegated authority for regulatory oversight and enforcement, information and a description of the designated state or regional agency and its scope of the authority;
- and a Point of Contact of that specific agency will be provided.
Each Fact Sheet has been approved by the respective agency for public outreach and education purposes.
