| The accumulation of soluble sugars (TNC) in forage plants during the day causes an increased preference by cattle for afternoon-cut hay (PM). This has been demonstrated by comparing dry matter intake (DMI) by animals offered hay cut in morning or afternoon. We conducted this study to determine if these diurnal changes occurred in the whole plant or only in the leaves. |
