Introduction
- Long-term manure application to soil can lead to phosphorus (P)
pollution of waterbodies.
- Low phytate grains could help reduce the amount of P that is land
applied.
- Manures from animals fed low phytate grains contain less total
P, but it is unclear whether this leads to a reduction in soil P solubility,
because phytate is relatively immobile in most agricultural soils.
- Our objectives in this study were to quantify the effects of diet
on manure P composition and subsequent differences in P solubility.
