Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Research articles published in 1998 dealing with barley chromosome 7H are briefly described. Quantitative trait loci for osmotic adjustment, partial resistance to leaf rust, and crossability with wheat were located on chromosome 7H. In addition, resistance gene analogs, a prolamine-box binding factor gene, a phytic acid mutant, and a gene for carotenoid pigment were mapped to this chromosome. Synteny between a portion of 7H and rice chromosomes was examined. AFLP markers also were placed on the chromosome 7H map.
