Technical Abstract: Numerous molecular marker maps have been produced for maize, and such maps are compared and summarized in this paper. Contents and linkages of the Maize Genome Database, MaizeDB, which gives access to the many data sources, including clones and mapping data, are described. Distribution of types of markers, genes, probed sites, expressed sequence tags, and simple sequence repeats is described and accounted. Mapping to bins provides a simple means by which efficient identification of location in the genome is done. Tabulations are provided of loci that are shared or unique, among different maps; of distributions of loci by type and bin; and of all genes in molecular markers according to their bin location.
