Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) model was released to the federal action agencies (NRCS, FS, BLM) and the public in 1995. WEPP contains state-of-the-art erosion prediction science, as well as extensive input databases for the United States. Since the model release, however, implementation of WEPP has been slow, largely due to lack of an easy to use graphical interface. The USDA-ARS National Soil Erosion Research Laboratory and Purdue University have been cooperatively developing a Windows 95/NT interface for WEPP since early 1997. This computer software presentation will demonstrate the current WEPP Windows interface and erosion model, and show their applicability in a variety of conservation planning situations. Plans are for this new interface to be used in WEPP model testing, evaluation, and database expansion by the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
