Interpretive Summary: As the new erosion technology is utilized on form fields the quality of the estimates will be influenced by the quality of the input data. All data are important, but high quality weather data is essential for quality erosion estimates. Procedures were developed for using available weather files to assemble a unique weather file for a specific field.

Technical Abstract: A procedure was developed to create weather data files for non-instrumented sites based on data from surrounding sites. The procedure uses the longitude and latitude of the non-instrumented site to compute the distance to instrumented sites. Based on the anti-distance weighted average method, data from the closest sites are more important than distant sites. To verify the procedure, erosion estimates were made with RWEQ (Revised Wind Erosion Equation) based on the original weather data for the instrumented site and erosion weather data using VWG (Veridical Weather Generator) weighted average for the same site.
