Technical Abstract: There is a need to identify growth staging scales that can be used for a wide array of crop and weed species and be acceptable to scientific research, farmers and crop consultants, and product manufacturers and crop protection applicators in defining and assessing timing of product application. This paper provides a listing of acceptable growth staging scales for many commonly grown crops. This listing does not cover all crops or weeds. There is a need for a universal growth staging system for all crops and weeds that uses consistent numeric codes appropriate for computer data management.
