Technical Abstract: Numerous field and laboratory experiments have been conducted over the years to obtain salt tolerance data. Plant response to salinity is affected by several factors including crop variety, soil, climate, salt type, irrigation or other cultural practices. Consideration of these factors in growth-response models would permit a more realistic and site- specific prediction of crop yield as a function of soil salinity. A computerized database relating quantitative experimental crop yields to average rootzone salinity and other parameters affecting crop growth has been built and is accessible through a windows-based user interface on personal computers. The interface will allow the normalization and comparison of reported data, providing a comprehensive data set for use in various crop salt-tolerance models. Use of the interface to query and analyze data will be demonstrated.
