Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: In 1992, Stuber et al., reported a Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) study in an F3 population from the cross of the two elite inbred lines B73 and Mo17. Since that time the F3 population has been continuously self-pollinated to form a set of Recombinant Inbred (RI) lines. This RI population was crossed to B73 and Mo17 and evaluated at two locations in 1993 and 1994. Traits analyzed included yield, plant height, ear height and moisture. This study compares and discusses the results of mapping QTLs in F3 and RI populations. Preliminary results indicate QTLs with major effects map to similar positions in F3 and RI populations.
