Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Many producers of container and field nursery stock are experiencing white grub infestations that threaten to prevent shipment of finished nursery stock. We are currently conducting research to improve nursery management practices to minimize white grub infestation. Until new information is developed and new products are registered, growers need to know what, when and how to apply pesticides to minimize white grub populations. Japanese beetle, Oriental beetle, European chafer, Asiatic garden beetle and May-June beetles are becoming more common in nurseries throughout the mid-Atlantic and Northcentral United States and Eastern Canada. Pinpoint timing of pesticide application may vary between white grub species and locality. A list of possible actions was noted.
