Technical Abstract: A partial cDNA encoding porcine a-1-acid glycoprotein (orosomucoid) cloned in the PstI site of pBR322 has been characterised by Stone and Maurer (1987) (EMBL Accession number: M35990) and shown to be homologous to human a 1-acid glycoprotein (orosomucoid). As the coding sequence of the duplicated human orosomucoid genes (ORM1, ORM2) are 95% identical and as the number of porcine orosomucoid genes is unknown we have used the locus symbol ORM. The insert was excised as a 670 bp PstI fragment, gel purified, radiolabelled and used to probe Southern blots.
