Draft genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Lille Strain CRJJGF_000101 (Phylum Gammaproteobacteria). Genome Announcements. 4(4):e00603-16.

Interpretive Summary: Salmonella enterica is an important foodborne pathogen that causes gastroenteritis and enteric fever in humans. The more than two thousand serovars of Salmonella differ greatly in their ability to cause disease in humans. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Lille is rarely associated with human illness in the U.S., has been found only rarely in U.S. food animals, and has a reduced ability to cause disease in the mouse model. To collect information on the genome structure of this rare serovar, the genome of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Kiambu strain CRJJGF_61 isolated from ground beef in 2007 was sequenced and the 4.98 Mbp draft genome sequence reported. To our knowledge this is the first genome sequence of serovar Lille made publicly available to the scientific community.

Technical Abstract: Here, we report a 4.98 Mbp draft genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Lille strain CRJJGF_00101 isolated from ground beef in 2007.
