Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The American Mosquito Control Association and mosquito control will be discussed. The American Mosquito Control Association in a non-profit scientific organization dedicated to promoting the highest standard in professional mosquito control. It is comprised of more than 1500 members representing students, scientists, regulators, industry, mosquito control employees and many others. The association publishes peer-reviewed research related to mosquito control in the Journal of the American Mosquito Control Association and mosquito control activities in the American Mosquito Control Association Newsletter. Potential environmental linkages between climate, ecosystems and elevated transmission of Zika and dengue viruses, and the introduction of Aedes aegypti into new habitats in the U.S. will be discussed. Examples will demonstrate how global climate and the environment can be used to predict emerging vector-borne diseases. The ability to predict periods of elevated risk permits us to design better prevention, containment, or exclusion strategies to limit globalization of emerging pathogens. |
