Technical Abstract: Influenza is naturally carried by wild birds, however it does occasionally transmit to domestic animal populations. Poultry and swine are the two major food animal populations which may be infected by influenza A. This report reviews the historic impact of these disease incursions. The actions taken to control these incursions will also be reviewed.
