Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Over the past 3 years, ARS scientists have been working to identify the underlying genetic variants responsible for a heat tolerance phenotype in cattle associated with the SLICK locus typically found in Senepol cattle. This presentation reviews the general field of applied genomics in cattle, and then will emphasize the mapping and sequencing of SLICK from its genome location of Bovine Chromosome 20.
