Technical Abstract: A report is given on international trade methods for molasses. At the present time there is a need to replace lead acetate clarification agent used in the determination of sucrose in molasses samples, in Europe and other parts of the world. The report discusses possible replacements for lead acetate. Results from a Sugar Proficiency Scheme on specific molasses methods are summarized, presented, and discussed. Recommendations for future work on molasses international trade methods are given.
