Interpretive Summary: Lacinilene C 7-methyl ether is an antifungal compound produced by the cotton plant in response to infection by pathogens. The crystal structure of the compound, which was unknown, has now been solved. This information will be helpful in future studies on how this compound interacts with the cell membranes of pathogenic microorganisms that attack cotton.

Technical Abstract: Lacinilene C 7-methyl ether is an antimicrobial compound produced by the cotton plant in response to attack by pathogens. For the first time, we now report the crystal structure of this compound. This may prove useful in studies on the interaction of the compound with pathogenic fungal cells.
