Technical Abstract: Curly top disease, caused by viruses in the genus, Curtovirus, has impacted western US agriculture for over a century; and is a significant threat to tomato production. The two most abundant curtovirus species today are Beet severe curly top virus (BSCTV) and Beet mild curly top virus (BMCTV) but other species exist as well. This presentation discusses the viruses that cause curly top disease, including biology, vector transmission, epidemiology, and management. This presentation is designed to provide knowledge of curly top to growers, industry, and others interested in management of virus diseases affecting tomato production.
