Technical Abstract: This book is the result of the symposium “Small Wonders: Peptides for Disease Control” held at the 240th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston, MA, August 22-26, 2010. This is the first book that covers a broad range of peptide technology and its practical application in the agricultural, medical, and pharmaceutical fields. The up-to-date reviews and original research articles by internationally-acclaimed scientists, discussing the important technical advances made on the use of small peptides in control of human and plant diseases, are presented in this book. This book will be of interest to a diverse audience including scientists in the medical, pharmaceutical, agricultural, chemical and biotechnological fields. Biochemists, molecular biologists, microbiologists and graduate students engaged in research and the development of peptides will find this book a useful reference tool. In summary, this book will represent a timely and much-needed comprehensive update of the literature in the field of peptides for disease control, an important and fast-moving subject area.
