Interpretive Summary: Address how existing genomics and genetics approaches can best be used to improve aquaculture production and to identify gaps in knowledge and tools that need to be focused on for further advancements. We are particularly interested in phenotypes related to improving tolerance to alternative feedstuffs; and to nutritional genomics approaches that will lead to improved digestibility of aquafeeds. Technical Abstract: Experts on selective breeding, physiology, genomics and bioinformatics will present and discuss state of the art information and relevant examples from fish and other animal systems. Identify strategies that will foster continuous improvements in experimental design and data gathering, analysis, benchmarking and integration in aquaculture.
