Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: In 2009, a virulent strain of Aeromonas hydrophila was associated with severly acute to chronic mortality in catfish ponds in Alabama. This strain of A. hydrophila had not been previously identified in AL catfish. The objectives of this presentation are to 1) present a summary of the biology of Aeromonas hydrophila for Alabama catfish producers and 2) to invite the farmers to participate in a project to monitor, respond, and measure the results of response to outbreaks in 2010.
