Technical Abstract: Sugar beet is widely grown, however high profitability requires proper land selection and management. This chapter describes the characteristics of sugar beet and reviews its land and soil management, including cultivation techniques, crop rotation, soil tillage, planting and seedbed preparation, disease control, and harvest considerations. In addition, the chapter considers the climatic requirements, as well as soil, water, and nutrient profiles for productive crop growth, and provides data to assess soil suitability for sustainable sugar beet production.
