Technical Abstract:
Southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula, is a pest of soybean, Glycine max, throughout the southern United States. Electrical penetration graph (EPG) techniques were adapted to observe feeding behaviors of fifth instar nymphs on soybean. No differences in types of waveforms were found between excised stems and potted plants. Visible differences were shown in waveforms among stems, pre-fill pods, and full bean pods. Both qualitative and quantitative results will be presented.
