Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This chapter describes the non-ascosporic yeast genus Myxozyma and is to be published in The Yeasts, A Taxonomic Study, 5th edition. The genus Myxozyma represents the asexual or non-ascospore producing species that would otherwise be classified in the genus Lipomyces if they formed ascospores. Mxyozyma has 12 described species, many isolated from soil. Myxozyma and Lipomyces are perhaps the only genera of yeasts that appear to actually live in the soil.
