Interpretive Summary: As part of our systematic study of several Terminalia species in search of chemical markers for quality control of the related dietary supplementary, the constituents of the bark Terminalia arjuna were reinvestigated. As a result, five novel 18,19-secooleanane type triterpene glycosides together with 9 known oleanane type triterpene derivatives were isolated from the MeOH extract of the bark of T. arjuna. The structures of new compounds were determined by spectroscopic analyses.

Technical Abstract: Five novel 18,19-secooleanane type triterpene glycosides, 1-5, were isolated from the MeOH extract of the bark of Teminalia arjuna, along with nine known oleanane triterpenoids. The structures of the new compounds were determined by spectroscopic analyses, including 2D NMR, HRESIMS and CD spectra.
