Technical Abstract: Mr. Michael Shaffer, Retired Pyraloidea Curator, at the Natural History Museum, London, England, passed away on March 23, 2009. He was an acknowledged world expert on Pyraloidea, a group of agriculturally important moths. He was curator of the largest Pyraloidea type collection in the world, and as such he was instrumental in the development of Pyraloidea expertise and research worldwide.
