Technical Abstract: The genomics chapter covers the basics of genome mapping and sequencing and the current status of several relevant species. The chapter briefly describes the development and use of (cDNA, BAC, etc.) libraries for mapping and obtaining specific sequence information. Other topics include comparative mapping, development and use of linkage and physical maps, and how this arena of research is invaluable for aquaculture. The terminal section of the chapter briefly covers recent related research and the focus of future research in established species and in new species.
