Interpretive Summary: .

Technical Abstract: Agroecology extends the boundaries of modern agriculture relying primarily on reductionistic scientific investigations of how plants and animals respond to and interact with the environment to a more holistic understanding between humans and nature to produce more sustainable agricultural systems that are socially just, economically viable, environmentally safe, and culturally diverse. This book describes in detail several extremely useful examples of how agroecological partnerships have developed and the kind of impact that they have had on agricultural production within a region. This book provides many positive examples of successful agricultural partnerships among farmers, scientists, public agencies, and farmer organizations to overcome the production, environmental, and social challenges we continue to encounter.
