Technical Abstract: Thermal foggers are used in many parts of the world for vector control. Since thermal foggers use heat to create and help propel adulticide clouds, there is reason to examine the stability of pesticides in both diesel and water-based formulations. This study examined the degradation of 5 pesticide formulations with the active ingredients malathion, permethrin, and d-phenothrin from multiple models of thermal foggers, ranging from handheld to truck mounted devices. Results were reported as percent degradation by comparing the formulations mixed at label rates to samples collected directly from the end of the thermal fogger nozzles.
