Technical Abstract: The hyphenated technique of LC-SPE-NMR was utilized to isolate and identify cinnamic acids and investigate their derivatives from the chloroform extract from Coastal bermudagrass. This method has shown to be useful in handling impure mixtures of extractants from biomass material. It overcomes the limitations of the stop-flow method of LC-NMR by allowing multiple trapping of chromatographic peaks. The method allows the identification of extremely complex plant extracts and avoids the painstaking task of isolating and purifying each individual component.
