Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Quantifying the environmental and economic impact of conservation practices is important to the success of agricultural policy/programs aimed at protecting natural resources. The Upper Big Walnut Creek (UBWC) watershed is one of 14 national cropland watersheds selected for the Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP). Hydrologic, water quality, and biological indices as well as land use and management are being measured in paired watersheds of the UBWC. Implementation of specific practices is being facilitated through the NRCS Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP). These indices coupled with the conservation practice and land management information will permit the impact assessment of various conservation practices at the watershed scale.
