Citation: Rutger, J.N. 2006. Use of the Genetic Stocks--Oryza (GSOR) Collection. Rice Field Day Abstract.

Technical Abstract: The GSOR was established in 2003 at the Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center in Stuttgart, AR, to preserve genetic stocks for the entire US rice industry. These stocks have greatest application in basic studies, but selected ones may be useful in variety development, now or in the future. Initial entries include different semidwarf genes, two mapping populations, leaf and hull color marker genes, tetraploids (large seeds), and a recently discovered giant embryo mutant with increased oil content. Tens of thousands of mutants from basic genetic studies, including laboratories in non-rice-producing states, are expected in the near future.
