Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: During the last 20 years, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been transformed from being a tool for the qualitative separation of lipids to becoming an indispensable tool for the quantitative analysis of lipids. Some of these HPLC method have also provided valuable insights into research areas only indirectly related to lipidology. The analytical methods that have been developed to study the lipids in conventional samples have also proven to be useful for the study of lipids from several other types of unconventional samples.
