Technical Abstract: Silver-ion high-performance liquid chromatography, with acetonitrile in hexane as solvent, is a powerful way to analyse a wide variety of geometric (cis and trans) and/or positional (location of olefinic/acetylenic bonds on the fatty acid backbone) fatty acids and fatty acid esters, including glycerol ester isomers, as well as the semi-preparative fractionation of fatty acid methyl esters and triacylglycerol isomers.
