Citation: Dawson-Hughes, B. 2006. Introduction to the supplement of the american journal of medicine's issue on "improving compliance and persistence with osteoporosis therapies". American Journal of Medicine. 119(4 Suppl 1):s1-s2.

Technical Abstract: Osteoporosis is not an inevitable consequence of aging. To date much effort has been directed at identifying those at risk for fracture and getting them on appropriate nutrition and treatment. Relatively little effort has been made to keep patients on these preventative measures. This supplement addresses known and potential strategies to encourage individuals to remain on therapy.
