Citation: Pachepsky, Y.A. 2006. Parameterization of pore structure with respect to the contaminant transport. Meeting Abstract. International Workshop “Methodical and theoretical approaches to study hydro- and thermo-physical characteristics of porous media". February 14-14, 2006, Lublin, Poland. p. 16.

Technical Abstract: This presentation will review existing sets of solute transport parameters generated by existing and emerging solute transport models. Advective-dispersive, mobile-immobile zone, continuous time random walk and fractional kinetics, stochastic streams, and random cascade models will be considered. Methods of probing pore structure to infer the solute transport parameters will be addressed including probing with water, nonpolar liquids, dyes, conservative tracers, colloids and microorganisms. Pedotransfer relationships between solute transport parameters and soil basic properties will be reviewed. Upscaling solute transport parameters using correct representation of rare pore entities will be discussed.
