Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: In this seminar presentation, an overview of the biology of three important stored-product pests (Indianmeal moth, red flour beetle, and warehouse beetle) will be presented. The factors that determine the relative importance of a particular pest species, such as type of facility, location, commodity type, and time of year, will be discussed. These points will be illustrated using results from monitoring studies in different types of grain handling and food processing facilities. For each pest species discussed, aspects of their taxonomy, lifecycle, behavior, and population dynamics will be covered.
