Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Agricultural products such as proteins, starches, vegetable oils, and fats have certain common chemical features. One of these common features is that they comprise distinctly separated regions of polar and non-polar groups within the same molecule. As a result, they are amphiphilic and can be employed in applications where amphilphilic properties are essential. One such application is in boundary lubrication, where amphiphilic materials are used to reduce friction and wear during a tribological process by adsorbing at the interface and separating the rubbing surfaces. In this work, adsorption and interfacial models were used to investigate the boundary properties of various ag-based amphiphiles and their mixtures.
