Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Indianmeal moth is an important economic pest in food storage facilities. Once the larva reaches the final stage, it will often wander in search of a pupation site. This stage is extremely difficult to kill with residual insecticides. Recent research with the insect growth regulators hydroprene and methoprene show that these products will give effective control of this final instar. Larvae are either arrested or fail to emerge as adults. Laboratory tests with surface treatments and field application trials with aerosols will be reviewed and discussed.
