Citation: Marshall, D.S. 2005. Results of the 2004-05 uniform winter barley yield nursery. Survey Notes.

Interpretive Summary: These results are used by barley breeders in the winter barley growing regions of the U.S. to determine the adaptability of the best experimental lines for possible release and production.

Technical Abstract: The purpose of the Uniform Winter Barley Yield Trial (UWBYT) is to evaluate winter-habit (fall-sown) barley advanced lines for adaptation to those areas in the United States where winter barley is grown commercially. The entries in the 2004-05 UWBYT were submitted by public barley breeding programs in Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. A total of 22 entries (11 hulled and 11 hulless) were included in the trial. There were seven testing locations for the 2004-05 UWBYT, with one in Georgia (Griffin), Maryland (Queenstown), Texas (Prosper); and two in North Carolina (Kinston and Laurel Springs) and Virginia (Blacksburg and Warsaw).
