Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Mormon crickets outbreaks once again threaten vast areas of western North America. This presentation provides an overview of the biology of this fascinating organism. Its life history and distribution are considered, followed by a history of its interactions with humans. Much work has been done on controlling Mormon crickets, but very little has been done to understand the ecology that underlies their outbreaks. Current approaches Mormon cricket research are reviewed including the use of radiotelemetry to study Mormon cricket migration.
